Dip your paddle in the water on a mirror-like lake or into a rushing river. Kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding (SUP) are popular water sports across the region. There is an abundance of lakes, rivers and small water channels — you just need the right equipment (and permits), and to know where to slide your kayak, canoe or board into the water. Where to Paddle

Follow marshy water trails or rushing rivers (for more advanced paddlers), or cruise across still lakes. The canoe canal at Alton Baker Park is a popular spot for an easy introduction to paddling. Eugene's largest lake is Fern Ridge Reservoir with creeks meandering the perimeter through wildlife zones — perfect for paddling.

Cottage Grove has multiple lakes with easy access points. Or head up into the Cascades where lakes abound around Lowell. Even higher up is Waldo Lake, known for its ultra clear waters and non-motorized status. And in the direction of McKenzie River, there is Clear Lake with its petrified forest visible beneath the surface.
